Team USA Career Program

So this is probably a huge surprise to all of you but Olympic dreams are not free!

I know crazy huh?

Whenever I talk to crowds of people, I try to give them some insights that not all “professional” athletes are making Lebron James money. I don’t have a shoe named after me or a billboard on Madison Ave in NYC. God that would be nice though!

As a result, many of us aspiring Olympians are forced to find part time jobs in order to pay for rent, coaching, equipment and food. Luckily for the past ten months, I have been part of the Team USA Career Program with a concierge job at the Waldorf Astoria in Park City. (I am actually writing this blog from work. Don’t tell my boss…) The Career Program gives us elite athletes flexible hours and benefits so that we are able to train and pay the bills all at the same time.

I want to say a huge thank you to the USOC, Hilton, Adecco and Waldorf for making this happen for me and all the other athletes in the program. Now I have to go make a dinner reservation for someone…till next time.
