What We Think About During Training

People often ask us what we are thinking about during our long training sessions or races. To say we are 100% thinking about skating during every lap is nuts. That would be like saying you are focused on every wheel turn during your morning commute. However, we do spend quite a bit of time with our sport psychologist working on self talk and emotional control. As you will see sometimes it works, other times not so much. So yesterday, I decided to take note of some of the things that were racing through my mind during our 2 hour interval session on the ice. Enjoy!

This is gonna suck…Why is Mitch building so hard?!…Ouch…Wow nine more to go. Shoot me…What the hell did Kip just say?…All right all right that was a good one.. I wonder what is for lunch?….Wonder if I am gonna puke today?… Left is feeling better… Great Success!!…. Wow sprinters know how to rest….
